Noughts and Crosses
This book is written by Malorie Blackman, who is born in London in 1962. She wrote many books and a few of them even got made into a film. However the most fabulous book is definitely “Noughts and Crosses”, which has been under best 100 books in Great Britain.

The story is about two young people, who fell in love, after having a deep friendship since childhood. They could be together if there wasn’t one really big problem:  the racism that dominates their country.  In their world there are two races, the noughts and the crosses. Crosses get patronized and oppressed by the noughts. Callum, who is member of the crosses, fell in love with Sephy, who is the daughter of one of the most important men of the Noughts.
They get known each other when Callum’s mum started to work for Sephy’s parents. But after all the time Callums mum, Meggie loses her job, so Callum and Sephy have to start meeting each other secretly. Although it is not accepted to go on a regular school of Noughts, a few Crosses get a permission to attend that kind of school. Fortunately also Callum is one of the exceptions, so Sephy and he can meet each other easier.
After a bomb explodes in the local mall, Callum saves Sephy and gets into big trouble because the Noughts think that he and his family are members of the responsible persons...

“Noughts and Crosses” is written from Callum’s as well as from Sephy sight. The story is catchy and also the difficulty of the relationship between noughts and crosses motivates to think about our own world. Very fascinating is that Malorie Blackman changed the sides: Crosses which are white get oppressed while the black ones are the leaders. Together with this book there are also 3 other books that finish the fascinating story about Callum and Sephy.
